Version 4 out now! - Lots of improvements and bug fixes!


Hi all, glad to announce Version 4 is out now after receiving some feedback, watching some streams / let's plays and discovering a few issues my self too...



4.0 Updates:

  • Made 7-2 Easier, less skull enemies - can’t get stuck behind first baby on ledge - more attack presents in middle section. Added wind to area where you can get stuck
  • 2-Boss - Fixed health bar disappearing behind background - replaced the intro section with fans instead of springs
  • 3-3 Removed apple enemy from top of lift
  • 3-EX fixed foreground not going transparent when going to secret sweet & faded properly
  • 4-2 Made platform go down further so it’s easier to get back up if you fall off in first area
  • Changed baby spawn location on 6-Boss so it appears where boss was defeated
  • 4-3 Moved apple enemy that was blocking the spring in middle of stage - Added extra spring on right section so you can go either way - Added spring at top to loop round if you didn’t manage to collect all the babies
  • Moved attack donut in 4-Boss so it doesn’t glitch when going across the screen wrap boundary
  • Moved location of Giant presents in 5-Boss as they didn’t always work for some reason??
  • Changed location of speed present in 5-1 as it was glitched and didn’t register you collecting it in the original location for some reason… 
  • Moved fans ands removed bridge in 5-1 to stop people thinking you can get onto the ledge without going on the lower path first. Also fixed some issues with background tiles not displaying correctly. Added some tiles at the end to stop you going up through the top of the screen. Moved the special sweet too. 
  • 5-3 Replaced some crock-jaws with angry apple enemies
  • 5-EX - Added attack present to make it a bit easier
  • 6-1 Removed crock-a-jaw enemy from area with yellow baby donut
  • Changed layout of 8-1 as the bridge at the start was stopping some people passing on certain platforms
  • Removed some croc-a-jaws from inside cave in 4-2
  • Fixed broken collision detection on the bridge in 6-3
  • Removed some stars in 8-??? To make it less frustrating, added Advice cream to explain to press up to use pinball flippers
  • Moved some enemies in 3-EX to make it less frustrating

I did notice that different builds of the game have some presents which don't trigger when collected. This is different for each system and there's no easy way to tell in the engine. So if you come across any presents that don't work, please let me know and I can replace them! 

The updates are available now on the browser version, as well as Windows and Mac. Unfortunately I can't get the Linux version to export again so that will be stuck on 3.9 for a while until I can figure that out.


^update to the above issue:

It's come to light that there's a lot more problems with these PC ports than I first expected. I think the issue stems from the game engine, as I can't seem to replicate the issues on my own computers. I am going to try and investigate the root cause of these problems and publish new versions whenever I can. I have removed the downloadable versions for now so you don't have a bad experience. 

Working with Stencyl has been a very frustrating experience, you can’t export to all PC platforms from one place. You need to open each version on that OS. So I need to make three copies of the game for Mac, Windows and Linux, then boot up that version of Stencyl and find different problems! The problems I manage to find when playing on my PC from those versions of the game don't seem to match the issues experienced by other players either... I'll certainly be switching to a more modern engine for my next game project!

As far as I can tell, the browser based version is working as intended. So please enjoy that version for now. Thank you for your patience, I hope I can find a fix soon!
